School Murals and Art Projects with Pupils.

In 2014 I was asked to design a WW1 memorial mural from the ideas of the Hemblington primary school year 6 children.

It was important to get the sorrow of the conditions the people had to live in during WW1 without being horiffic.

The children helped paint the design and rotated 4 at a time so that every one had an input.

The balance of bright colour in the modern day part of the mural was esential for the contrast to the dull WW1 trenches days.

The design was freehand drawn, by myself, then marked out inareas for each group to work in their time slot.

once the youngsters have completed all the areas, I then outline, highlight, lowlight and airbrush areas to make it all pop.

The concept of this piece came about from wanting an image of children from around the globe and their representive countries iconic monuments/landmarks.

This was a lovely, newly rendered, piece of wall to work on for this project. the painting depicts the 5 School houses, Neverland, Narnia, Camelot< hogwarts and Stormhold.

The painting was made with the help of a lot of the youngsters but unfortunatley not all had Media release so we couldn't use images of them painting.

My favorite part of the mural as I love Dragons, and they wanted a scary looking one painted too.

The painting was to celebrate 100 years of the Cobholm Primary School and was sponsered by 1st Direct Busses of Great Yarmouth.

I loved painting this piece for the school, it was a 2 part Mural which the children helped with the second part. I was just asked to create a fantasy themed landscape with lots of colour & story.

The challenge with this piece was not oly attaching the structure to the wall but designing a coherant piece of art around the obstcals like windows, posts and hot air vents.

The design was also painted outside, which can get a little cold at times, and can be a bit harsh on the knees at my age.

I love painting unusual coloured skys, so fantasy murals are probably my favorite.

Finaly all the characters are added, I like to include a bit of education to my murals so I also put correct references like star patterns and correct types of creatures in them.

This piece was opposite to the first Mural and a perfect level for the youngsters to get involved with {no health and safety height issues to deal with}. Once again we rotated between a class of 30 youngsters.

The idea behind this mural was to go in theme with the brilliant woodern Play yard boat that the school has, so the pirate idea was perfect.

Fun ellements were added, at the childrens reques, like the monster in the hole under the islandt

No pirate scean is complete without a cannonball battle.

the Mural measured 4 ft x 16 ft when complete

I love this little idea of a flying pirate ballon ship.

And every pirate picture has to have a Skull Island too.

This project was to create a pice of work from the designes/ideas of the children of Fairsted school. This was to spruce up an old looking skate ramp in the schools grounds.

The pictures were to be in a graffiti spray art style but using normal paints for the children.

Over 4 days the work was carried out with the help of 6 children every 1.30hrs so we were able to involve over 70 children
